（English below） 中の人は、放浪癖があって、収集癖もあります。この組み合わせ、わりと厄介だなと思うんです。一つのところに留まらずにあちこち移動するくせに、気に入ったものを集めてしまう。場所は持てないのに、モノは増えていく。 でも、僕はモノを大事にしたい。マテリアルというか、手触りというか。デジタルじゃなくて、実際に触れることのできるもの。紙の質感、指の腹でなぞったときのざらつき、かすれたインク。それが記憶を引っ張り出すスイッチになったりする。 そんなことを考えていたら、「記憶の断片を誰かと共有できないかな」と思ったんです。見えない光の糸で世界を繋ぐようなイメージで、偶然出会った先で思い浮かんだ言葉をポストカードに書いて誰かに届ける。 「売り物」じゃない。ただの「習慣の延長」でできるもの。 でも、もしかしたら、突然、朝にポストを開けたら手紙が届いていた。しかも、結構エモーショナルな内容。そんな感覚で言葉をもらいたいと思う人もいるんじゃないかと考えました。まあ、僕ごときでよければ、という話ですが。 親しい他者（親友）と、まだ遠い他者の間にいる人たち。きっと人生のタイミングが重なれば仲良くなっていたんだろうな、と思う方々に想いを届けるために、少しだけ仕組みを作りました。でも、継続できるように、あくまで「恐れ多いけど、切手代をお願いしてしまっても大丈夫でしょうか？」くらいの温度感で。 旅先で写真家が、気まぐれに言葉を添えて送る。 それが巡り巡って、誰かの記憶のどこかに引っかかる。 収集癖も放浪癖もある僕としては、誰かの空間に一枚、僕の言葉を預けられるだけで嬉しい。 世界のどこかの景色が、僕の手を通じて紙に焼きつき、それがあなたの手元に届く。 そこには僕の記憶が宿っている。でも、受け取った瞬間から、それはあなたのものになる。 見えない糸で世界をつなぐように、記憶の断片が誰かの知覚の中でたゆたう。 これは、旅の途中から届く「偶然の手紙」。 少しだけ、僕とあなたの間で、小さな遊びをしてみませんか？ 【ルール】 1. ポストカードの送り主は旅先の写真家 どこかの国、どこかの街角から、ポストカードを投函します。日本かもしれないし、海外かもしれません。旅先の郵便事情によって、届くタイミングはまちまち。 2. ポストカードは選べません そのとき手元にあるもの、そのときの気分で送ります。少しあなたのイメージを反映するか？ 3. メッセージも気まぐれ 旅先で拾った言葉、ふと思ったこと、その場の空気感。長文かもしれないし、一言だけかもしれない。わりとねちねちと長く散文を書いてしまう傾向にはあります。 4. 「切手代」を頂きますが、これは「商品」ではありません。 ポストカードが欲しい方には、切手代（＋ポストカード代）として250円を設定していますが、これはあくまで仕組み上の便宜的なものです。誤解を招かないよう、念のため記載しておきます。 作家のポストカード、色んな方々に送りたい！という気持ちを尊重して頂けますと幸いです。 5. どこから届くかはわからない 旅の途中で投函するため、消印や郵便スタンプもまちまち。 それもまた、この企画の醍醐味のひとつ。また、郵便事情によって、届かないということがあるかもしれません。（今まで2回経験している） 最後に、人類学者・ティムインゴルドの引用を添えて。 かつて私たちは、特に愛する人たちや家族、友人に手紙を書く時には、こんなふうに考え、書いていたのです。紙にペンを走らせると、まるで彼らとともにいて会話をしているかのように、自分の考えが相手に飛び移っていったのです。私たちは、論文を発表するためではなく、相手の心の中に生じるであろうものに、気分と動機において応える、考えの線を引きつづけておくために、感情や関心をこめて、あたかも話すように書いたのです。私たちがやりつづけているように物事を進めていくことで、続いて起こる精密化という重荷に未だ押しひしがれていない、新鮮さと自発性を持った考えが、ここに現れ出てくるのです。 しかし手紙を書く場合は、私たちが選ぶ言葉だけではなく、どうやって書くのかということも重要です。 筆記体で書かれた手書きの言葉は、切れ目なくつながっていく文字の線の重さと屈曲それ自体が感情を伝えます。 これは、言葉が言い表せるものを超えていますが、言葉は、私たちが言葉に付与した意味によってではそれ自体の表現力のおかげで、それを語るのです。あなたは私の声から私のことや私の気持ちを知るように、私の書き方から私のことを知り、私がどう感じているかを知るのです。 応答、しつづけよ。 | ティム・インゴルド p.17 では、bon viaje ! Drifting Perception – Postcards from a Traveling Photographer The Worldview I have both a wandering habit and a collecting habit. And honestly, this combination can be quite a hassle. I move from place to place, never settling, yet I can’t help but gather things along the way. I don’t have a fixed place, but my possessions keep increasing. Still, I want to cherish objects. The materiality of them, the way they feel. Not something digital, but something tangible. The texture of paper, the roughness under my fingertips, the smudges of ink. These little details become triggers that pull memories back into the present. And so I began to wonder—could I share fragments of memory with someone? Like an invisible thread of light connecting the world, I’d write down words that came to me during my travels and send them on a postcard to someone, somewhere. This isn’t a “product.” It’s just an “extension of a habit.” But then I thought—maybe some people would enjoy that feeling of opening their mailbox one morning and unexpectedly finding a letter. A letter that turns out to be surprisingly emotional. Maybe someone out there would appreciate words arriving in such a way. Well, if you’re okay with receiving a postcard from someone like me, then here we are. This is for those who exist somewhere between dear friends and strangers. People who, under different life circumstances, might have become close. To reach those in that space, I decided to create a small structure—a way to make this sustainable. But even so, the attitude remains simple: “Would you mind covering the postage?” A photographer, sending a postcard with a few spontaneous words from wherever they are. A piece of that journey, passing through hands, might land somewhere in someone’s memory. For someone like me, who has both a wandering heart and a collector’s impulse, just knowing that a single one of my words might quietly rest in someone’s space is enough. A fragment of the world’s scenery, imprinted on paper through my hands, delivered to yours. At first, it holds my memory. But the moment you receive it, it becomes yours. Like an invisible thread connecting the world, these fragments of memory drift through someone’s perception. This is a “serendipitous letter” from the road. Shall we play a little game between you and me? The Rules The sender is a traveling photographer. The postcard will be mailed from somewhere in the world. It might come from Japan, or it might be from another country. Delivery timing depends on the local postal system. You cannot choose the postcard. I will send whatever I have on hand at that moment. Maybe I’ll reflect a little of your image in the choice—maybe not. The message is unpredictable. Words picked up along the journey, fleeting thoughts, a piece of the atmosphere. It might be a long passage, or it could be just a single sentence. I tend to write in long, meandering prose, so be prepared for that. You’ll cover the postage, but this isn’t a “product.” To make the system work, I’m asking for 250 yen to cover the postage and the postcard itself. But please don’t misunderstand—this is just a practical necessity. This is not a service, not a transaction. You won’t know where it’s coming from. The postmark and stamps will be different each time. That’s part of the charm. And sometimes, mail gets lost—it has happened to me twice already. A final note, with a quote from anthropologist Tim Ingold: "Once, when we wrote letters—especially to loved ones, family, and friends—we thought and wrote as if we were speaking to them in person. The pen glided across the page as though our thoughts were leaping directly into the hearts of those we wrote to. We did not write to publish; we wrote to respond to the emotions and thoughts that might arise in the reader’s mind. And in doing so, our thoughts retained their freshness and spontaneity, unburdened by the weight of future revisions. Yet in writing a letter, it is not only the words we choose that matter—it is how we write them. The weight and curves of cursive handwriting itself convey emotion. Beyond the literal meanings of words, they speak to us through their very form. If I were to describe it in my own words— A photographer who thinks in language almost to a fault, searching for what slips through when put into words, choosing instead to construct a narrative through images. Once you've seen it through, it rewinds, and a different story begins. A presence felt in places that are neither here nor anywhere. A photo book that explores this in-between space. A fellow photographer I consulted during the process described it as “a self-introduction by someone who has spent years observing stories, now finally telling their own.” I thought I was gathering fragments of memories—collected with a strange sense of urgency—and shaping them into a book. But before I knew it, the book itself had become something untethered, drifting somewhere. I hope it continues to float, making its way to places that are nowhere and everywhere.
